Greetings to the Lebanon Valley College Community and Friends:

It is my pleasure to present this recording by QUARTET DIE POSAUNEN, featuring the first trombone quartet “in residence” at an American College or University as recognized in 1985 by the International Trombone Association. Then LVC President John Synodinos and Dean William McGill endorsed and supported the Quartet as presented by Music Department Chairman Dr. Robert C. Lau ’65.

Its founder, Adjunct Professor of Low Brass James Erdman (retired principal trombonist of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band), was invited to join the LVC faculty in 1982. The Quartet was formed in 1983 with original members, James Erdman, Robert Hearson, Ronald Garman, and Stephen Shiffer.
